Cheap Mondays

These Cheap Mondays really were cheap, I bought 'em brand spankin' new at one of my favorite car boot sales in London for just 2£. Washed denim, is back.

Denim Waistcoat

I've been selling clothes to Wasteland in Los Angeles but I just couldn't seem to part with this Levi's waistcoat that I bought at the swapmeet for mere pocket change, a poor man's pocket change. And yes, my bra is Dior, thank you very much.

Razor Front

Well, last summer in the hype of the velvet craze I bought tons of black velvet pieces with the intention of creating something. (That's right, can't ever get inspiration from simply buying the fabric). Amidst mediocre creations came the 'racer front', which my tongue can't seem to distinguish from the 'razor front'. This top, aside from being a majestic fabric, is the clavicle's best friend, well in the running to be its best friend up against Lauren Kay Sokolov that is.

MC Hammer

You can probably guess that these pants were originally made for a pregnant woman, well I''m not pregnant. I bought them for a dollar last year at a yard sale because I was drawn to the gathering at the waist which is inevitably made by the elastic. I thought the low front pockets were really cool but the lower half (some would argue that the entirety) of the pants was a mess being boot cut. So I took them in from the knee down and made them skinny adding a zipper. The result was bold but I think they're an acquired taste...

Recap

One would think that moving to London would have strengthened my, self-proclaimed, sixth sense of fashion, although evidence might indicate otherwise. I ask myself whether my love for fashion has dwindled or simply secluded into hibernation? I can't give a clear set of reasons for my hiatus from the vanity of a fashion blog, but I can't help point fingers at the blistering cold that swept the UK this London and nearly claimed my pinky toe in a case of frost bite. The point is, as the weeks got colder and the winter of 2009/2010 became the coldest winter the UK has seen in 30 years, my style suffered. Yes, I chose warmth over fashion, and yes, I am ashamed. But at last, spring is upon us and now that I have regained feeling in my fingers, let us admire a very special piece that persevered by keeping me warm AND stylish...and so totally English...

I got this fur coat at Portobello Market, which is where the second picture happens to be taken. One of the things I love most about English fashion is the freedom and eclecticism of people's style, although I do sometimes wonder whether people are actually stylish or just a failed attempt of all the mixed fashion messages London has to offer...

Confessions of a Hedonist

Going for the french look. Failed miserably I'm sure, I mean seriously, I'm wearing shorts and colors other than le cher noir. Oh well, at least the top is french.

This is my hedonist shot, I'm just missing a cigarette, a glass of wine and no bra..oh wait. Nevermind. These shorts are my latest creation, alteration, got them as pants at the swapmeet for...should I tell you? .25$

High Rise 501 Levis Cutoffs

Okay, so I know I already made a post about these shorts but I was just googling pictures of high rise levi's cut-offs to see the different ways people wear theirs and of course came across a picture of Chloe Sevigny (unintentionally, I swear!). I was soo excited only because I haven't seen many people rock them the same way that I do, slightly folded at the bottom (not cuffed!!) because I was too lazy to do anything about the raw bottoms, but apparently Chloe does too! I think the difference with everyone else's DIY levi's is that they don't wear the 501s or maybe it's that they just don't wear them so damn tight around the pelvis that the fact they're incredibly short is besides the point. Anyway, I need to wash them, badly.

Acid and Jill Stuart

Well, when I bought this Jill Stuart bra-top at a sample sale cocktail party in NYC I was actually on another sort of hallucinogen, but apparently it IS as cute as I had presumed. Acid wash overall skirt + bows = speechless.

2 in 1

And before my friend's event on the 8th, I'm thinking of hitting up Voz Alta for the art show that starts at 6 pm, afterall, it is only a few blocks away. The pictures from their past art show look fun. It's a small space but I'm excited to check it out!

Underground Art Scene

If you like the parties that I go to then check out my friend's art show this weekend. I was going mad looking online for information on it and finally I asked him to send me the flyer because I couldn't find anything! Pretty underground..but it should be very interesting and fun. I love warehouse parties in the barrio.. check out really cool past events at warehouses in the "east village" : http://setanddrift.org/projects/reinventing-the-wheel/
