MC Hammer
You can probably guess that these pants were originally made for a pregnant woman, well I''m not pregnant. I bought them for a dollar last year at a yard sale because I was drawn to the gathering at the waist which is inevitably made by the elastic. I thought the low front pockets were really cool but the lower half (some would argue that the entirety) of the pants was a mess being boot cut. So I took them in from the knee down and made them skinny adding a zipper. The result was bold but I think they're an acquired taste...

Recap
One would think that moving to London would have strengthened my, self-proclaimed, sixth sense of fashion, although evidence might indicate otherwise. I ask myself whether my love for fashion has dwindled or simply secluded into hibernation? I can't give a clear set of reasons for my hiatus from the vanity of a fashion blog, but I can't help point fingers at the blistering cold that swept the UK this London and nearly claimed my pinky toe in a case of frost bite. The point is, as the weeks got colder and the winter of 2009/2010 became the coldest winter the UK has seen in 30 years, my style suffered. Yes, I chose warmth over fashion, and yes, I am ashamed. But at last, spring is upon us and now that I have regained feeling in my fingers, let us admire a very special piece that persevered by keeping me warm AND stylish...and so totally English...
I got this fur coat at Portobello Market, which is where the second picture happens to be taken. One of the things I love most about English fashion is the freedom and eclecticism of people's style, although I do sometimes wonder whether people are actually stylish or just a failed attempt of all the mixed fashion messages London has to offer...
